Hey!

I've been working on Floodgate a lot recently, and I realized I've shown plenty of screenshots and talked about individual rooms, but I haven't actually put much normal gameplay footage here.

So... let's fix that lol.

Here's some gameplay from the current build!

Obviously, everything here is still a work in progress. Rooms will change, mechanics will get tweaked, things will break, and I'll inevitably decide something I've spent three hours making looks like shit and redo the entire thing.

But I'm really happy with how Floodgate is starting to actually feel like a game instead of a collection of rooms and mechanics I've made.

There's still a LOT left to make, but we're getting there! :P

Sebastian & Chip

I've also been working on Sebastian's shop!

Unlike PRESSURE, Sebastian isn't just sitting out in the open. In Floodgate, he mostly lives inside a vent, occasionally sticking his upper body out to talk to you and run his little definitely-completely-legal business.

More importantly, Sebastian and Chip talk to each other.

If you hang around the shop instead of immediately leaving, you'll occasionally hear conversations between them. Some are useful, some give little bits of information about the Blacksite, and some are about absolutely fucking nothing.

Here's a couple I've written:

Conversation 1 — DeVines

CHIP:
“You don't like DeVines, do you?”

SEBASTIAN:
“No.”

CHIP:
“Why?”

SEBASTIAN:
“They're annoying.”

CHIP:
“They're plants.”

SEBASTIAN:
“Annoying plants.”

CHIP:
“What did a plant possibly do to you?”

SEBASTIAN:
“Grabbed my tail.”

CHIP:
“Oh.”

SEBASTIAN:
“Three times.”

CHIP:
“...Same one?”

SEBASTIAN:
“Same. Fucking. One.”

Conversation 2 — Expendables

SEBASTIAN:
“Expendables are weird.”

CHIP:
“They're standing right there.”

SEBASTIAN:
“I know.”

CHIP:
“They can hear you.”

SEBASTIAN:
“I know.”

Sebastian looks directly at you.

SEBASTIAN:
“Expendables are weird.”

And those are only the conversations Sebastian is willing to have while you're around.

There may or may not be a way to make Sebastian think you've left the shop and listen to what he and Chip talk about when nobody else is around.

But that would be eavesdropping.

And eavesdropping is rude.

So obviously you shouldn't do that.

:P

Anyway, that's all for now! I'm gonna get back to working on Floodgate before I inevitably find another completely unnecessary feature to add.

See ya!
