Hey!

Welcome to my website.

If you're wondering why I have an entire website instead of just posting everything I make on social media, the short answer is:

I hate social media.

That's basically it.

But since this is a blog and I can make these posts as unnecessarily long as I want, here's the longer answer.

I Don't Really Like Social Media

I've tried using social media.

I don't particularly enjoy it.

There's something weird about making something you're proud of, posting it, and immediately having it thrown into an endless feed with a million other things fighting for someone's attention.

Everything feels temporary.

You post something.

People might see it.

Maybe they don't.

A day later, it's buried underneath everything else.

Then you're supposed to post again.

And again.

And again.

I don't really want that to be the main way I share things I make.

I still upload games on Itch.io, though i dont think that counts at social media

But I'd rather those places point people here.

Because this place is mine.

So I Made My Own Place

I liked the idea of someone finding something I made, clicking on my profile, and seeing:

My Website!

Then they click it and suddenly they're here.

No algorithm deciding which one of my posts you're allowed to see.

No trying to squeeze everything into whatever format a platform wants.

No worrying that something I spent hours making is going to disappear into a feed five minutes after I post it.

Just my stuff.

If I want to write three paragraphs, I can.

If I want to write thirty paragraphs, apparently I can do that too.

If I want to post five screenshots of something I'm making, I can.

If I want to post a tiny story I wrote because it meant something to me, I can do that.

If I make a song and want to put it somewhere, I can.

If I want to hide something incredibly stupid on a page where almost nobody will ever find it...

I can absolutely do that.

What Am I Going to Put Here?

Probably a little bit of everything.

The biggest thing right now is obviously game development.

I'm currently making Floodgate, a fan-made remake/reimagining of PRESSURE, and that's probably going to appear here a lot.

I'll post development updates, screenshots, mechanics I'm working on, things I've finished, things that broke horribly, things I scrapped, ideas I'm planning, and whatever else seems interesting enough to write about.

But I don't want this website to exclusively be a Floodgate devlog.

I also like coding in general.

I'm getting into music and remixing songs.

Sometimes I write things.

Sometimes I have an idea that doesn't really belong anywhere else.

Sometimes I just want to talk about something.

So that's what the Blog page is for.

It's basically where I can dump whatever I'm making, thinking about, or think is cool enough to show someone.

My Games

There's also a Games page.

That's where I'll keep the games I've made and the games I'm currently working on.

Right now, Floodgate is obviously going to be the main thing there.

But I really like the idea of keeping this website around for a long time.

Eventually Floodgate won't be the only thing on that page.

There'll be other projects.

Finished games.

Old games.

Experiments.

Maybe things I'm extremely proud of.

Maybe things I'll look back at five years later and wonder what the fuck I was doing.

But they'll still be there.

I think that's cool.

Instead of everything I've made being scattered across random websites and accounts, I can have one place that basically becomes an archive of stuff I've created over time.

About Me!

Then there's the About page.

That's pretty self-explanatory.

It's me.

Hello.

I make games.

I code things.

I mess around with music.

I have too many ideas.

That's about the situation.

I'm not trying to make this some super-professional portfolio where I describe myself as an "innovative interactive media developer specializing in immersive digital experiences." I make games because making games is fun.

I code because I genuinely like coding.

Sometimes I spend four hours making one room.

Sometimes I accidentally create 689 Unity errors.

Sometimes I make something really cool.

That's what I want this site to feel like.

Not a company.

Not a brand.

Just a person who makes stuff.

I Want This Website to Feel Like Mine

That's probably the most important part.

I don't want this website to look like every other modern website.

I don't need fifteen pop-ups.

I don't need an account system.

I don't need an algorithm.

I don't need notifications begging you to come back.

I don't need a button asking you to subscribe to the CharlieClip Premium Newsletter™.

I just want a website.

You show up.

You look around.

Maybe you read something.

Maybe you find one of my games.

Maybe you discover something hidden that you weren't supposed to find.

Then you leave.

And maybe sometime later you come back and there's something new.

That's enough.

So... Yeah.

That's why this exists.

I hate social media.

I like making things.

So instead of relying entirely on somebody else's website to show people what I'm making...

I made my own.

I'll still post elsewhere occasionally, especially when I have something big to show or when I eventually release a game.

But this is where I want all of it to actually live.

My games.

My blog.

My music.

My random projects.

My terrible ideas.

My good ideas.

Whatever comes next.

If you're actually reading this, somehow you've ended up in my little part of the internet.

So...

Hi!

Have a look around.

Enjoy your stay! :P
