So, Firewall is finally done!

For anyone who doesn't know what Floodgate is, it's my fan-made remake/reimagining of PRESSURE. I'm rebuilding the basic idea from the ground up in Unity while putting my own spin on basically everything I can: rooms, areas, entities, mechanics, encounters, secrets, routes, and whatever other ideas I come up with while making it.

Floodgate is planned to have 100 rooms, and Firewall is Room 20, which means I've officially made it through a pretty big chunk of the beginning of the game. Only 80 more rooms. Fuck.

Firewall is only the first major set-piece encounter.

After this, Floodgate still has a lot left.

There are multiple major areas planned throughout the Blacksite, including the Oxygen Gardens, Server Farms, Maintenance Tunnels, Heavy Containment, the Outskirts, the Sewers, the Ridge, and the Operator rooms.

Different areas will introduce different entities and mechanics.

There is also Chip.

Chip is important.

I will not elaborate.

Scrapped Stuff

Not everything I originally wanted to remake is actually going to make it into Floodgate.

One of the bigger examples is Operation Heartburn.

At one point, I considered remaking it as part of Floodgate, but eventually I decided:

I don't wanna.

That's basically the entire explanation.

A lot of Operation Heartburn is optional content, and when actually playing it, it feels pretty different from normal PRESSURE. Floodgate already has a huge scope, and I'd rather spend that development time making the parts of the game I actually want to make.

Some individual ideas could always come back in another form, but I'm not currently planning to remake Operation Heartburn itself.

And I'm sure plenty of other things will get changed or scrapped before Floodgate is finished.

That's just how making games works.

What's Next?

With Firewall finished, I've reached the end of the Blacksite Administration section.

Which is really cool!

It also means I've reached Room 20 out of 100.

Which is horrifying!

The next part of development will move toward the transition out of Administration and eventually into the next major area of the Blacksite.

There's still an absurd amount of work left, and basically everything I've shown could change before release.

But the game is getting there.

One room at a time.

20 down.

80 to go.

Fuck.
